Hungarian Parliament: neo-gothic icon protected by humidity

The character of this building, the home of the Hungarian Parliament, is defined by the neo-Gothic elements of its facade, reflected in its many towers, spires and gables. Standing at approximately 315 feet in height, it is the second tallest building in Budapest, surpassed only by St. Stephen’s Basilica. Inside, the parliament showcases a style of historical classicism enriched with lavish gilded ornamentation. RS steam humidifiers from Condair ensure excellent humidity throughout, creating a comfortable environment for members of parliament and protecting the building’s refined interiors.

Preserving heritage through precision climate control

Beyond its political significance, the Parliament Building is one of Hungary’s most treasured architectural and cultural landmarks. Its grand halls, historic chambers and richly decorated corridors require carefully regulated environmental conditions to safeguard delicate materials, artworks and handcrafted details. By maintaining stable humidity levels, Condair’s technology helps preserve this national symbol for future generations while ensuring that daily governmental operations take place in an environment that is both healthy and pleasant.

The Condair RS steam humidifiers boast patented limescale management which prevents permanent deposition of limescale on heater rods. Limestone crusts are successively detached and removed from the steam cylinder into the limescale collection vessel. Limestone management ensures extremely short waiting times and a long life.

The innovative control system fitted with a touch display ensures outstanding transparency of function and precise steam delivery. The units are the result of decades of experience and they define the state of the art in modern steam humidification.

ADAC Center, Munich

In March 2012, ADAC's new headquarters officially opened for business after six years of construction. Since December 2011, the office has been home to some 2,400 employees in over 100 professions, who were previously spread out across seven different locations. Bringing them all together in one place will encourage innovative ways of working, improve the speed of business processes, and simplify member services.

Royal Albert Hall

The Royal Albert Hall is probably the best-known concert building in Great Britain. Around two million guests a year enjoy acoustic cultural delights ranging from rock to classical music. Condair steam humidifiers ensure a perfect humidity in the organ chamber so that wooden parts maintain their integrity and shape, and move over each other perfectly, as they were designed to do.

The Chedi Hotel

After its opening in late 2013, The Chedi in Switzerland was named as a 2014 must go to destination by the international press. Together with other projects, it aims to make the small town of Andermatt more attractive than St. Moritz. On top of that, the Chedi exemplifies sustainability in a luxurious way. The hotel's sustainable and luxurious design is reflected in the architecture, building materials as well as its modern utilities.12 Condair hybrid humidifiers are installed to meet the building's air humidity requirements.

Actelion Business Center

Elbphilharmonie, Hamburg - Germany

In January 2017, the Elbphilharmonie (or Elbe Philharmonic Hall) was officially opened after about ten years of construction work. Its unique glass facade, which plays on visual associations with sails and ocean waves, has already established itself as a new landmark of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Inside the Elbphilharmonie‚ main concert hall, specially-designed and individually-carved wall and ceiling elements provide incredibly precise sound diffusion and perfect acoustics.

The main hall has 2,100 seats in total, and each seat is individually supplied with fresh air. Condair DL hybrid humidifiers ensure comfort for visitors and optimal acoustic conditions for the orchestra.

Archives

Proper humidity control in archives ensures stable storage conditions by maintaining the right balance of moisture in the air. This prevents mold, pests, corrosion, and brittleness, while also improving energy efficiency compared to heating-only methods. The result is reliable, long-term preservation of both organic and inorganic collections.

Military Equipment Storage and Preservation

No country keeps all military equipment in a constant state of readiness. A portion is placed in long-term storage or “mothballed” and is not immediately battle-ready. This applies across all branches of the military, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force, each with its own environmental challenges. For example, maintaining dry conditions for ammunition storage requires a very different approach than protecting a naval vessel from moisture damage. While the primary objective is maintaining the correct humidity level to prevent damage, the requirements are more complex than simply reducing high humidity. Traditionally, preventing corrosion caused by excess moisture was the main concern. However, overly dry conditions can also damage sensitive materials and electronic components. Excessive absolute or relative humidity can additionally encourage insect activity and mold growth on uniforms and stored materials. Although corrosion of metal components, such as steel rusting, remains a critical issue, modern military equipment is increasingly vulnerable to microscopic damage. Computers, telecommunications systems, lithium batteries, navigation equipment, and electronic warfare systems can be affected by both corrosion and electrostatic discharge. Today’s military hardware extends far beyond simple metal structures. Advanced systems incorporate multiple metals, composite materials, protective coatings, sealants, specialized munitions, and highly sophisticated electronics. As a result, precise humidity control is essential to prevent deterioration, maintain operational readiness, and protect equipment during long-term storage.
